Kava Equity Partners is the direct private equity investment arm of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe Growth Fund, which itself is the business arm of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. Kava Equity Partners’ mission is to create enduring value and enhance tribal member equity by diversifying and expanding the earnings base of the Growth Fund. The Assistant Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting with preparation of financial information to provide an accurate and timely monthly close, as well as providing support with budgeting and financial reporting. Responsibilities include preparation entries to the general ledger and account reconciliations; preparation of monthly financial reporting packages (analysis and presentation); providing support for financial statement audits and annual budgets; and communicating and coordinating with portfolio companies.
This position reports to the Controller and will collaborate with the Growth Fund’s Finance & Accounting department and as well as portfolio company finance and accounting teams. Additional duties will include active participation in investment due diligence.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field and 3 years full-time experience in accounting or auditing; OR Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field and 5 years full-time experience in accounting or auditing is required.
- Experience in the creation and production of financial reports.
- Willingness to assist others, learn new skills and participate in a productive, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to mentor, train and lead staff as directed.
- Advanced computer experience and a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word and advanced Excel skills.
- CPA or CMA certification.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience in audit processes, preparation of financial statements, and financial analysis.
