The Regional Controller – West Region is a key finance leader responsible for driving financial rigor, operational discipline, and value creation across three manufacturing sites based in Denver, CO, Austin, TX, and Ham Lake, MN in a private equity-owned environment. This role partners closely with General Managers and senior operations leadership to improve EBITDA performance, cash flow, and predictability, while ensuring strong controls, timely reporting, and alignment with the PE sponsor’s expectations.

This is a hands-on, high-accountability role suited for a finance leader who can operate with speed, challenge assumptions, and translate financial results into operational actions.

Primary Responsibilities Value Creation & Business Partnership
  • Act as a proactive finance partner to General Managers and regional operations leadership, with a strong bias toward margin improvement, cost discipline, and cash generation
  • Translate financial results into clear operational drivers, trade-offs, and corrective actions
  • Support value-creation initiatives including productivity improvements, pricing discipline, footprint optimization, and working capital reduction
Financial Reporting & Close
  • Own accurate and timely monthly close for both sites, meeting aggressive PE reporting timelines
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies
  • Prepare site financial statements, variance analysis, and management reporting packages
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance
  • Oversee cost accounting activities including standard cost development, BOM accuracy, labor and overhead absorption, and inventory valuation
  • Analyze manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead, scrap) and partner with operations to drive corrective actions
  • Support inventory management, cycle counts, and physical inventories
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
  • Lead annual operating plan budget and rolling forecast processes for assigned sites
  • Develop clear, bottoms-up forecasts tied to production volumes, labor plans, and material assumptions
  • Highlight risks, opportunities, and corrective actions to maintain forecast accuracy and credibility
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Drive working capital performance, including inventory turns
  • Maintain strong internal controls in alignment with PE governance expectations
  • Support external audits, internal audits, and periodic reviews
Team Leadership & Accountability
  • Lead and develop site accounting staff, setting clear expectations and operating cadence
  • Instill a high-performance, ownership mindset focused on results, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Actively coach plant leaders on financial acumen and decision-making
Systems, Scalability & Growth
  • Ensure effective use of ERP systems and standard financial processes across sites
  • Support integration activities related to acquisitions, system implementations, or carve-outs
  • Build scalable, repeatable finance processes that support growth and future transactions
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive manufacturing finance or accounting experience
  • Strong bias for action and comfort operating in pace-driven environments
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and elevate plant financial discipline
  • Clear communication with executive leadership and ownership stakeholders
  • Ownership mindset with focus on EBITDA, cash, and operational transparency
  • Strong cost accounting and inventory management expertise
  • Proven experience partnering with plant operations leaders
  • Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience (Global Shop and/or E2 strongly preferred)
Preferred
  • CPA or CMA
  • Experience in a private equity-backed manufacturing environment
  • Multi-site manufacturing support experience
  • Exposure to M&A integration, carve-outs, or rapid-growth environments
