Director, Actuarial FP&A

Job Description Summary
As a key member of Transamerica’s Financial Planning and Analysis team, this role involves assessing regulatory capital impacts related to the addition of new asset classes, as well as evaluating reinsurance transactions and other strategic initiatives. The role will be heavily involved in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

• Interpret, prepare, and present key actuarial and financial information to support informed leadership decision‑making.
• Provide guidance and advice regarding technical actuarial issues such as pricing rates, modeling methodology, reserving principles and related matters, focusing on forward‑looking financial outcomes.
• Assess complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, reinsurance arrangements, and other strategic initiatives, offering guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with leaders from business units and other departments to provide meaningful management reports, support capital planning, and perform performance analysis. This involves linking product‑level actuarial results to broader FP&A narratives at the enterprise level.
• Act as a trusted partner to Actuarial, Risk, ALM, Investments, Tax, and Finance Transformation teams to deliver an integrated financial view.
• Drive key projects to completion by providing leadership and direction to individuals both inside and outside the organization.

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field, with 10 years of related actuarial experience, or Master’s degree in a listed discipline with 8 years of experience.
• FSA and American Academy of Actuaries membership.
• Demonstrated high‑quality leadership, judgment, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to explain advanced mathematical and analytical concepts to various audiences.
• Solid understanding of risk/return profiles of various assets.

• Extensive experience in the insurance industry, knowledge of regulatory frameworks, and a thorough understanding of financial markets.
• Proven experience in setting up financial models that are used in decision‑making processes.
• Experience assessing and analyzing business performance, challenging business strategies, presenting and interpreting assessment results, and conducting complex financial research autonomously.

• Hybrid office environment: three days in office per week at selected hub locations. Relocation assistance is not provided.

• Salary range: $195,000 – $250,000 annually, based on qualifications, experience, geography, and operational needs.
• Eligible for an annual bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance at the Company's discretion.
