Job Overview
The International Tax group at VF plays a vital role within the finance function, leading strategic efforts in planning, reporting, and managing controversies tied to VF’s international tax position. With operations spanning over 150 legal entities and 100+ countries, this team navigates a dynamic global tax landscape, ensuring compliance with evolving U.S. international tax legislation—including GILTI, SubpartF, FDII, Foreign Tax Credits, and BEAT—as well as tax regulations in key jurisdictions worldwide.
To succeed, the team must possess a comprehensive understanding of VF's global business across its brands and functions, combining rigorous attention to detail with a strong work ethic. Non‑compliance with international tax requirements could lead to significant financial risks through audits, penalties, and interest.
Responsibilities- Strategic leadership:
Managing and directing internal team members (and external advisors) on significant cross‑functional projects and tax planning initiatives including M&A, supply chain, intellectual property (IP), and legal entity rationalization (LER) through analysis of U.S. and local country tax issues. - Subject‑matter expertise:
Provide taxation expertise, consultation, and deliverables for international acquisitions, divestitures, and integrations by overseeing legal agreements and coordinating with treasury and other key stakeholders. - Key relationship management:
Build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders to drive the implementation of global business initiatives and international expansion plans while identifying and addressing tax issues. - Cash management and financing:
Lead Treasury and Finance functions for the international tax team, including cash repatriations, maintenance of cash pooling arrangements and intercompany financing, and direct coordination with director peers in Treasury and Financial Reporting. - Coordination across global teams:
Coordinate with Accounting, Supply Chain, Legal, Treasury, and other functional groups to ensure efficient ongoing operations. - US GAAP and global tax reporting:
Own specific components of the US GAAP quarterly and year‑end tax provision processes including US international tax calculations and the impact of GILTI, SubF, foreign tax credits, FDII, BEAT, APB
23, and any acquisitions, divestitures, integrations, or restructuring. - International tax compliance processes:
Manage compliance including GILTI, SubF, foreign tax credits, FDII, BEAT, and related matters. - Process improvement:
Establish control‑related standards and procedures for U.S. international tax matters to ensure proper reporting and risk mitigation. - Mitigation of financial risk:
Manage international tax IRS exam issues as they arise, develop strategy of responses, and ultimately provide the response. - Leadership and mentorship:
Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports and interns, including goal setting, performance feedback, career development planning, and fostering continuous learning.
- 10+ years of experience in international tax, U.S. tax, M&A, and reorganization rules.
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. international tax rules including GILTI, SubpartF, foreign tax credits, FDII, and BEAT.
- Experience in complex tax modeling and international tax planning.
- Proficiency with MS Power Products (BI, Query, Apps, and Automate), MS Office, and One Source is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Hiring Range: $152,000
USD – $190,000
USD annually. Incentive Potential:
Eligible for an annual incentive plan or commission potential; details provided during the recruiting and interview process.
