Summary
The Universal Banker serves as a full‑service, single point of contact for South State customers, combining teller and field service representative (FSR) responsibilities to provide exceptional customer service and contribute to the bank’s financial growth.

- Serves customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the South State Bank Service Standards.
- Knows and understands the bank’s products and services, including facts, features, benefits, rules, regulations, and pricing.
- Identifies customer needs and expectations by listening for clues and seeks opportunities to expand relationships through referrals.
- Maintains a neat and professional appearance in accordance with bank policy.
- Ensures compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
- Discovers and promotes customer‑facing technology, enrolling customers in self‑service options.
- Processes transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
- Assists in guiding and training new tellers.
- Allows customers access to safe deposit boxes.
- Cashes checks and processes savings withdrawals within assigned limits.
- Sells certified checks.
- Balances transactions daily.
- Serves/ balances ATM as needed.
- Utilizes the branch capture system.
- Follows policies and procedures to minimize operational errors and maintain proper workflow.
- Follows the branch’s security and audit procedures and understands the function and operation of security devices.
- Opens new deposit accounts and handles tasks such as stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions within assigned limits.
- Explains policies and procedures to customers, many of whom may be unfamiliar with them.
- Resolves customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion, directing more complex issues to appropriate sources.
- Sees customer service as an opportunity to satisfy the customer and promote additional services.
- Shows sincere appreciation for each customer’s time and business; gives a business card if not already provided.
- Ensures branch records, reports, and correspondence from customer development efforts are correct, timely, and properly distributed.
- Follows the branch’s security and audit procedures and understands the function and operation of security devices.
- One year of teller or cash‑handling experience and six months of customer‑relationship or sales experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in the Teller II and basic FSR job functions.
- Additional responsibilities may include vault or backup‑vault duties.
- Float to different offices within the area to accommodate staffing needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Cash handling, sales, and customer service experience; previous banking experience preferred.
- Good interpersonal, computer, and English language skills.

- Additional training may be required based on experience.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or sit for long periods.

Open lobby area with an individual workstation; located inside a cooled and heated facility with access to break rooms.
TravelTravel may be required for meetings or training as needed.
CompensationAnticipated pay range in Colorado: $38,518.00 – $57,778.00, based on skills, experience, and education.
