SEEKING A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

We are seeking a passionate accounting professional with high standards and attention to detail that thrives in a supportive and fast-paced environment. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, producing financial statements, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, managing month‑end and year‑end closes, assisting Plante Moran with audits and tax filings, and mentoring our accounting team.

Key responsibilities include financial analysis, account reconciliations, budget monitoring, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards like GAAP.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensuring day‑to‑day transactions such as accounts payable, cash receipts and accounts receivable, credit card transactions, and payroll are recorded properly.
  • Performing timely and accurate month‑end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., net assets, investments, revenue, expenses, payroll allocations, etc.), ensuring that accounting schedules are updated and accurate.
  • Ensuring proper revenue and expense recognition.
  • Monitoring cash and investment balances and performing cash flow forecasting.
  • Ensuring all finance and accounting operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Assisting the Heads of Finance in developing and monitoring departmental, project, and organizational budget; assisting with monthly financial reporting needs.
  • Performing fiscal year‑end close activities and assisting with activities and requirements of external auditors.
  • Communicating regularly with the Heads of Finance.
  • Continually seeking and implementing opportunities to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology including training staff to better utilize financial and accounting software.
  • Managing select administration activities, such as payroll, state unemployment and income tax registrations. Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Strong proficiency in Sage Intacct accounting software, Bill, Expensify, advanced MS Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables), and in‑depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Analytical

    Skills:

    The ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and provide accurate interpretations.
  • Attention to Detail:Meticulous accuracy in record‑keeping and financial data entry is crucial.
  • Leadership & Communication:Skills to mentor accounting team and communicate effectively with various stakeholders across the company and provide information and support as needed.
Education and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required, degree in finance, accounting, or relevant field a plus.
  • Master’s degree and/or CPA certification a plus.
  • 5 years in financial management and accounting.
  • Experience with Sage Intact is a plus.
Salary + Bonus

Commensurate with experience. Annual Compensation (Salary & Bonus Opportunity) ranges from $100,000 to $120,000. Position includes extensive benefits including 401(k) matching, health, dental, vision and so much more.
