The Accounting Manager plays a central role in firm operations and has direct visibility with shareholders and leadership. Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the firm’s accounting department, including two accounting clerks
- Oversee all billing processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoice generation
- Drive an assertive, structured collections strategy to reduce aging A/R
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for shareholder review
- Maintain and improve internal controls, ensuring accuracy across all financial workflows
- Manage trust accounting in compliance with Colorado ethical rules
- Handle settlement checks, retainers, and client funds with precision
- Conduct financial analysis to support firm leadership and strategic planning
- Coordinate and execute year‑end financial processes
- Attend weekly Wednesday management meetings at noon
- Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and leadership to streamline processes and enhance financial performance
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA preferred, especially for candidates at the top of the compensation range
- 5+ years of substantive accounting experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment
- Strong understanding of trust accounting, settlement check handling, and legal‑industry ethical rules
- Experience with Tabs3 or similar legal billing/accounting software
- Demonstrated ability to manage billing, collections, and financial reporting with accuracy and urgency
- Proven ability to supervise and develop staff
- Highly organized, assertive, proactive, and comfortable owning financial operations
- Ability to work fully on‑site, with some flexibility in daily schedule
- Professionalism, sound judgment, and strong communication skills are essential
