The Denver Foundation, located in the Denver Metro area, is seeking a Director of Impact Investing. This is a full-time, nonprofit, finance role with a salary range of $135,000 - $152,501.

Position Summary:
The Director of Impact Investing leads the execution of the foundation's place-based impact investing strategy, including sourcing, underwriting, execution, and monitoring of investments.
This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of impact investments – from pipeline development through portfolio monitoring – and works closely with foundation leadership, donors, and external partners to deploy capital that generates both social impact and financial returns.
The Director brings strong business and financial acumen as well as community partnerships, supporting the continued evolution and scale of the foundation's impact investing work.
Components of the role will focus upon:
Investment Portfolio Management
- Lead sourcing, underwriting, structuring, and execution of impact investments.
- Experience conducting financial analysis, including evaluation of business models, market dynamics, risk factors, and return expectations.
- Manage the full lifecycle of investments, including due diligence, closing, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
- Develop and maintain financial and impact performance metrics at both the transaction and portfolio level.
- Prepare investment recommendations and materials for internal leadership, the Impact Investing Committee, and the Board of Trustees.
Impact Investing Operations & Strategy Execution
- Support the deployment and management of the foundation's Impact Investing Pool and donor-recommended investments.
- Contribute to the refinement of impact investing processes, underwriting standards, and portfolio management frameworks.
- Ensure strong asset quality, compliance, and alignment with the foundation's investment philosophy.
Donor & Stakeholder Engagement
- Steward relationships with donors engaged in impact investing and support alignment of investment opportunities with donor interests.
- Collaborate with internal teams to integrate impact investing into broader philanthropic strategies.
- Serve as a resource to donors and advisors on impact investing approaches and opportunities.
Ecosystem Development & Partnerships
- Build relationships with other foundations, lending organizations, and government partners.
- Identify opportunities for co-investment, partnership, and capital alignment to expand impact.
- Contribute to the development of new impact investing products aligned with community priorities.
Communication & Impact Reporting
- Partner with communications and data teams to support impact investing, reporting, and storytelling.
- Help define and communicate investment performance and community impact outcomes.
Equity & Organizational Alignment
- Advance the foundation's racial equity commitments through investment practices, partnerships, and portfolio strategy.
To achieve success, you will be expected to showcase the following qualifications and attributes:
- Minimum of seven years of experience in impact investing, private markets, community development finance, or related financial, legal, or philanthropic services fields. At least three years of experience working in place-based impact investing.
- Demonstrated experience sourcing, underwriting, and executing investments.
- Strong financial analysis and modeling skills, with the ability to evaluate risk, return, and market dynamics.
- A collaborative leader who excels at bringing together internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals and maximize community impact.
- Deep commitment to racial equity and a genuine passion for leveraging impact investing as a tool to strengthen communities.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and consistently deliver high-quality work with attention to detail and meet deadlines.
- Ability to cultivate meaningful relationships and establish trust with individuals from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences.
It would be beneficial if you also have:
- Experience working in place-based or community-centered investing strategies.
- Experience working with foundations, donor-advised funds, or mission-driven capital.
