Key ResponsibilitiesThe Private Equity Research Associate will support the Director, Private Equity in our Research department, focusing on investment manager research and due diligence. The daily workflow involves meeting with investment managers, generating research notes and formal reports, tracking and analyzing performance and exposures, and other ad‑hoc projects. The role requires leading and completing various projects under strict deadlines in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
- Attend meetings with investment managers and prepare post‑meeting reports for dissemination to colleagues across the organization and to clients
- Create and update investment manager reports used for reviews and recommendations to clients
- Assist with underwriting new investment ideas by analyzing firm background, investment strategy, historical performance, portfolio positioning, and fund terms
- Utilize investment tools including Preqin and Pitch Book, to conduct manager analysis
- Create asset class reviews summarizing major trends, including macroeconomic backdrop, performance drivers, competitive landscape, and key client considerations
- Conduct modeling, including updating client cash flow models and tracking forward commitment calendars
- Undergraduate degree (academic concentration in economics, finance, or business is preferred)
- 2‑5 years of experience within the financial services industry through internships or full‑time positions with a preference for experience at a foundation, endowment, family office, or consultant and prior experience underwriting private investment strategies
- Excellent written communication skills (a writing sample is required for consideration)
- Proactive self‑starter with the ability to multitask and organize competing priorities and deadlines
- Analytical problem‑solving and data analysis skills with high attention to detail
- Intellectual curiosity and desire for constant learning
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Knowledge of capital markets and securities analysis; specific asset class experience is a plus
- Experience with investment technology (Preqin, Pitch Book, Bloomberg, etc) is a plus
