We are seeking an entrepreneurial, high-performing Controller to lead the in-house accounting department at a high-growth direct-to-consumer portfolio company. This role is responsible for overseeing all daily financial operations, back-office processes, internal controls, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, audit, and payroll management, with specific expertise in inventory tracking and cost accounting to help optimize our profitability and supply chain metrics.
Experience in Direct-to-Consumer is also critical to this role.
This role will be in-person in the Denver, CO metro area.
Key Responsibilities Inventory & Cost Accounting- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory tracking, stock reconciliations, and inventory valuation compliance.
- COGS Analysis: Provide deep-dive Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reporting and profitability analysis to support pricing and purchasing decisions.
- Operational Analysis: Conduct comprehensive business and cost-control analyses to identify operational efficiencies.
- End-to-End Financial Execution: Execute and manage daily accounting functions along with maintaining a high-level strategic overview of the company’s financial health and trajectory.
- Cash Flow Management: Own the company’s daily liquidity position; design and maintain robust cash flow forecasting models (including a rolling 13-week forecast) to optimize working capital.
- Daily Transactions: Perform the daily processing of financial transactions, including Accounts Payable (AP) processing and Accounts Receivable (AR) tracking.
- Expense Management: Manage corporate credit cards and internal expense policies.
- Payroll & Benefits: Oversee internal payroll processing and employee benefit program management.
- Financial Statements: Prepare accurate periodic financial statements, monthly closing packages, and operational dashboards that support daily and strategic decision making, as well as board updates.
- Metrics Tracking: Deliver weekly reports detailing key operating and financial metrics to leadership.
- Tax & Audit Support: Coordinate monthly sales tax reporting and filings. Provide documentation and compliance checks for year-end tax support.
- Corporate Finance Support: Assist leadership with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, banking relationships, and covenant tracking.
- Systems Implementation: Manage and optimize our financial IT solutions, including the implementation and management of our Inventory Management System.
- Internal Controls: Establish, monitor, and enforce robust internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and streamline operations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Experience: 5–8 years of relevant (CPG, Direct-to-Consumer) corporate accounting experience, with a proven track record in a product-based environment (handling inventory and COGS).

Highly proficient in modern accounting systems, inventory management software, and ERP systems. - Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial and inventory data into actionable business insights.
