CDOC Accounting Technician III; Denver

About this Role

We invite Colorado residents to join a dedicated team focused on public service in the Division of Adult Parole/Community Corrections.

This position provides business office services for the Division of Adult Parole/Community Corrections area through monitoring and reporting financial transactions. The role maintains an adequate system of internal controls for checking the accuracy and reliability of accounting data, and initiates improvements in accounting/tracking systems.

• Match documentation (requisitions, receiving reports, vendor invoices) while applying State Fiscal Rules and forward the completed package to Accounts Payable for payment.
• Research unpaid invoices sent from Accounts Payable.
• Correspond with internal and external stakeholders on invoice discrepancies.
• Establish procedures for compiling and batching fiscal documents.
• Ascertain and verify approvals and coding to ensure totals equal control totals, assign vendor  based on vendor names and addresses when needed.
• Analyze data and circumstances to determine the best solution guaranteeing fiscal responsibility.
• Reconcile monthly vehicle mileage and cell phone charges.
• Assist in receiving C‑Card logs and reallocating procurement card charges to appropriate accounting line coding.
• Track indigent housing expenditures and request purchase orders when necessary; inform management of situations needing attention.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Applicants must be residents of the State of Colorado at the time of application.

• Three (3) years of technical accounting experience, or a combination of college or university coursework in finance, accounting, or related business fields plus relevant experience equaling three (3) years.
• Technical accounting is defined as accounting processes that record, classify, verify, and report financial transactions.
