Position: Budget Analyst (Field)

Summary
This position is located in the Office of Field Operations. The incumbent provides assistance and program oversight to budget support and analysis functions for Field Operations. The duties of this position include responsibility for the compilation of budget requirements, presentations, and execution, tracking and monitoring functions and the preparation and analysis of budget related materials.

Duties
Help The major duties of the Budget Analyst (Field) position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serves as the Field Divisions primary resource on matters concerning administrative and training program budgets.
  • Prepares various reports, exhibits, analyses, numerous tables, and other material relating to budget estimates and justification.
  • Monitors the execution of the Field Divisions operational budget.
  • Analyzes annual budget submissions for the Field Division to assure consistency and compliance with established ATF, DOJ and federal policies.

Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st, 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

  • You must be a current, permanent Department of Justice employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate.
  • Pass drug screening and subject to random drug tests.
  • Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation.
  • You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.

MOBILITY PLAN: New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement. Minimum Qualifications

Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.

GS-9To qualify for this position at the GS-9 grade level, candidates must meet the following specialized experience by the closing date of this announcement.

Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-7), obtained in either the public or private sectors performing all of the following: demonstrated knowledge of budgeting policies and regulations; demonstrated knowledge of commonly used budget procedures, experience retrieving budget data, and experience preparing budget-related reports and records.

Education: Successful completion of a master's or an equivalent graduate degree, or successful completion of at least 2 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LLB or JD, if related. You must include transcripts.

Combination of

Education and Experience:

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.

GS-11
To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, candidates must meet the following specialized experience by the closing date of this announcement.

Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9), obtained in either the public or private sectors performing all of the following: demonstrated knowledge of budgeting policies and regulations used to prepare division budget reports; experience analyzing the effects of budget changes; experience retrieving budget data; and experience presenting and exchanging budget related information in meetings.
