We are seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support a large-scale wildfire mitigation program by managing financial reporting and compliance requirements associated with state and federal grant funding. This role will focus on interpreting grant requirements, monitoring budgets and expenditures, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with funding guidelines to maximize grant utilization and retention.
This is an individual contributor role that partners closely with finance, accounting, grants, and operational teams to support critical infrastructure and risk mitigation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage reporting requirements for state and federal grant-funded programs.
- Interpret grant agreements, funding requirements, and compliance documentation.
- Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and grant-funded spending activities.
- Track reporting deadlines and ensure timely submission of all required deliverables.
- Prepare accurate financial reports and supporting documentation.
- Analyze financial data and identify variances, risks, or compliance concerns.
- Collaborate with grant management, finance, accounting, and project teams.
- Maintain organized reporting records and audit-ready documentation.
- Support ongoing compliance efforts to ensure continued funding eligibility.
- Assist with cost tracking, budget forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience as a Financial Analyst, Project Controls Specialist, or reporting-focused finance professional.
- Strong financial analysis and reporting experience.
- Experience interpreting complex financial, legal, contractual, or grant-related documentation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including:
- Data analysis and reporting functions
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Utility industry experience.
- Experience supporting Department of Energy (DOE) grants.
- Contract interpretation and compliance experience.
- Experience working with government-funded programs.
