The Budget Director serves as a key advisor to Colorado's Attorney General, providing strategic leadership and oversight of the Department of Law's $165 million budget across multiple funding sources. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and manages annual budget creation, fiscal note preparation, expenditure oversight, and resource allocation to support departmental strategic initiatives and public policy objectives.
Key qualifications- Eight years of professional experience in public sector budget analysis, development, and implementation
- Knowledge of Colorado state fiscal processes, including the Colorado Operations Resource Engine (CORE) system
- Experience creating, managing and executing budgets for organizations with multiple funding streams
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze budget data and make recommendations
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- CPA licensure by Colorado Board of Accountancy (can substitute for education requirement)
