We are partnering with a fast-growing, private equity-backed company in the Denver area on a newly created Tax Manager opportunity.
This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to help build and modernize a tax function
, rather than simply maintain existing processes. The Tax Manager will lead U.S. income tax provision, compliance, and planning activities while partnering closely with accounting, finance, legal, and senior leadership on a variety of strategic initiatives.
- Lead quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provision processes under ASC 740
- Manage tax accounts, reconciliations, deferred tax activity, and provision-to-return adjustments
- Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance and coordinate with external providers
- Manage filing calendars and ensure timely compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Support tax planning, transaction analysis, and strategic business initiatives
- Partner with internal teams and external advisors on complex tax matters
- Analyze fixed assets and depreciation, including MACRS and bonus depreciation
- Support acquisitions, dispositions, financing activity, and other transactions
- Advise leadership on the tax implications of strategic decisions
- Research complex tax issues and prepare technical memoranda
- Lead and support tax audits, notices, and inquiries
- Improve tax processes, controls, data flows, and systems integration
- Support entity-level tax matters, including ownership structures, allocations, and capital accounts
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess potential business impact
- Manage and develop one direct report
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field
- Active CPA required
- 6+ years of tax experience within public accounting and/or corporate tax
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and U.S. corporate income tax
- Experience owning or supporting income tax provision and compliance processes
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to research and communicate complex tax issues
- Strong analytical, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Big 4 experience preferred but not required
- Experience in a complex, capital-intensive, acquisitive, or private equity-backed environment is a plus
- Exposure to indirect taxes such as sales/use, franchise, real estate, and personal property tax is helpful
