Our client is a growing upstream energy company seeking a highly motivated Corporate Development Associate to join its team in Denver, Colorado.
This is an excellent opportunity for an investment professional with 2–4 years of experience across investment banking, private equity, and/or corporate finance, ideally with a strong focus on the oil & gas sector.
The Associate will work closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate development, and financial analysis across the company's upstream portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Support the evaluation and execution of acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation analyses, and transaction models.
- Conduct market, company, asset, and industry research across the upstream oil & gas sector.
- Prepare investment committee materials, management presentations, and transaction analyses.
- Assist with due diligence processes, including financial, operational, commercial, and technical analysis.
- Evaluate acquisition opportunities and develop recommendations for senior management.
- Monitor industry trends, commodity markets, M&A activity, and comparable transactions.
- Work cross-functionally with finance, operations, land, engineering, and executive teams.
- Support broader corporate finance and strategic planning initiatives.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience within:
- Investment Banking
- Private Equity
- Corporate Development / Corporate Finance
- Must have experience within the oil & gas / energy sector
. - Strong financial modeling and valuation skills.
- Experience with M&A, transaction execution, or investment analysis.
- Strong understanding of upstream oil & gas assets and financial drivers.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline.
The strongest candidates will likely come from an investment banking or private equity platform focused on Energy / Oil & Gas
, or from the corporate development / finance team of an upstream E&P company.
Candidates should be commercially minded, technically strong, and interested in taking on significant responsibility within a lean corporate development team.
