Position SummaryThe Colorado Department of Revenue Liquor and Tobacco Enforcement Division is hiring Underage Operatives. Operatives aged 16-20 will conduct undercover compliance checks by attempting to purchase tobacco and alcohol from licensed establishments to prevent sales to minors.
Responsibilities- Perform undercover compliance checks by attempting to purchase tobacco and alcohol products.
- Use a body microphone to record and transmit activity to investigators for live monitoring.
- Testify in criminal court and administrative hearings as required.
- Maintain flexibility with work schedule; schedule set by investigators.
- Coordinate with investigators and comply with required training.
- Ages 16 through 20 years old.
- Valid Colorado state‑issued driver license.
- Willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Transportation provided while on duty.
- Availability to work as directed by investigators; no guaranteed hours.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and accept supervision during operations.
- Temporary position; employees may work a maximum of nine months in any rolling 12‑month period.
- No guaranteed hours; pay state, federal, local taxes, Medicare, and contribute to PERA.
- Workers’ Compensation coverage provided.
- Non‑permanent temporary employees are ineligible for all state benefits except CSEAP and PERA contributions.
