** Location & Schedule
** The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees’ physical work location is based upon the position’s job duties and requirements, customer service and responsiveness, team and individual performance, and business needs and requirements. Our current practice requires in-office work for all employees for a minimum of three days per week. Business needs and initial onboarding may require additional days in the office.
** Who We Are & What You’ll Do
** The Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for the fiscal health of the city. The DOF leads fiscal analysis and guidance, property assessments, budgeting, accounting functions, enforcement of fiscal policies, practices and procedures for the entire City and County of Denver. The DOF fulfills the state statutory responsibilities for tax assessment and collection. DOF also manages the City’s debt portfolio and investment portfolio.
The DOF commits to delivering these services through a financial structure that reflects the best practices of both the public and private sectors. This commitment promotes better service, enhanced performance measures, maximum accountability, and improved business processes.
The Deputy Director of Legislation and Policy is an integral member of the Department of Finance’s team who will hit the ground running, inspiring the department to meet its strategic plan goals, and further establishing Denver as a premier city in which to live, work and play.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Managing the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities, relating to all Department of Finance legislative and government affairs issues.
* Serving as primary liaison between City Council and the Department of Finances, including serving as the point of contact to City Council and vice versa
* Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key officials outside of the Department to ensure effective development and passage of key city legislation
* Providing regular reports on current and upcoming legislation, in coordination with the CFO, to cabinet members, elected officials, and other key stakeholders
* Managing the Department’s day to day legislative process through City Council, including serving as primary point of contact for Department programs and divisions advancing resolutions and ordinances through the system
