• Acknowledge and greet patients, customers, and vendors as they walk into the practice in a friendly and welcoming manner
• Answer and respond to telephone inquiries in a professional and timely manner
• Schedule appointments
• Gather patients and insurance information
• Verify and enter patient demographics into the EMR, ensuring all fields are complete
• Verify vision and medical insurance information and enter into the EMR
• Maintain a clear understanding of insurance plans and communicate insurance information to patients
• Pull schedules to ensure insurance eligibility prior to patient appointments and ensure files are complete
• Prepare insurance claims and run reports to ensure all charges are billed and filed
• Print and prepare forms for patient visits
• Collect and document all charges, co-pays, and payments into the EMR
• Allocate balances to insurance as needed
• Maintain a clean workspace
• Practice economy in the use of equipment and supplies
• Perform other duties as needed and as assigned by the manager

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer literacy
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Must be able to maintain patient and practice confidentiality
