JOB TITLE: EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician

REPORTS TO: First Aid Supervisor

Respond to medical emergency calls within the park and provide medical care to those injured or ill.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Patient assessments, including physical examination and First Aid and Basic Life Support including airway management, ventilator support, circulatory and shock management, clinical assessment, orthopedic care, medication administration, obstetrics, medical and trauma care and patient extrication and safety.
- Will have to recognize the need for special oradditionalassistance, including Advanced Life Support, ambulance transport, aero medical transport, patient extrication, rescue, or other services.
- Willbe responsible forappropriately interviewing patients, family members, bystanders, and witnesses. May alsobe responsible forany Physician contact, patient transfer and referral, transferofcareand follow up.
- Various duties will include,telecommunications, radiocommunicationsand dispatch of resources.
- You willbe responsible fordoing Inspection, inventory, maintenance, preventative maintenance and cleaning of grounds, facilities, work areas, vehicles, supplies, and equipment.
- Understands and performs appropriately under the Emergency Response Plan, including disaster and Multiple Casualty Incident (MCI) operations and management.
- Infection control, biohazardous material identification, cleanupand disposal.
- Basic identification of hazardous atmospheres, materials, and incidents.
- Vehicle operations, emergency vehicle operations, and defensive driving, including driving and operating ambulances and other vehicles in a safe manner.
- Administrative duties may include filing, distribution, computer operations,typingand data entry. Understands, supports, and follows the Standard Operating Procedures and Patient Care Protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned, needed, or required.
- Required at least 1 year experience working inthe asEMT field. (preferably ambulance)
- Has obtained as a minimum a high school diploma or GED.
- Possesses andmaintainsa valid and current State of Colorado Emergency Medical Technician – Basic certification and completes all requirements for renewal, including continuing education classes or hours.
- Possesses andmaintainsa valid and current American Heart Association or an accepted equivalent nationally standardized Healthcare Provider CPR certification card.
- Has a working knowledge of the Denver Metro Protocols
- Possesses andmaintainsa valid and current state Driver’s License and park Driver’s License.
- Ability to communicate well,verbally and in written form. Ability to interpret written, oral, and diagnostic forminstructions. Ability to read and understand English language manuals, texts, and maps. Accurately discern and interpret directions, street signs, addresses, and landmarks. Ability to converse andcomprehend
English effectively. Ability to appropriately interviewpatient, family members, bystanders, and witnesses. Ability to document inwriting,all relevant information in a prescribed format. - Hears and listens well.
- Ability to lift, carry, and balance heavy loads. Manipulate andoperatetools, equipment, instruments,implementsetc. to the specifications, standards,etc.,of the manufacturer or Patient Care Protocols.
- Ability to use good judgment and remain calm in high stress situations.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with loud noises and flashing lights.
- Ability to function effectively through an entire shift or assignment.
- Ability to calculate weight and volume ratios and read smallprint bothunder life threatening time restrictions.
- Good manual dexterity, withabilityto perform all tasks related to the highest quality of patient care and withabilityto handle tools, implements, order toperform all tasks related to the duties of Health Services personnel.
- Ability to walk, run, bend, stoop, and crawl on uneven terrain.
- Ability to withstand varied environmental conditions such as extreme heat, cold, moisture, dryness, etc.
