Although the full salary range is provided, appointments are typically made at or near the range minimum. This is a term‑limited position terminating on 08/29/2030.
WhatYou Will Be Doing
The Cancer Systems Specialist coordinates the implementation of CDC work plans for the Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP) and the Clinic Quality Improvement (CQI) strategy of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP). Key duties include:
- Developing and adapting intervention design processes within established program objectives and grant requirements.
- Analyzing clinic‑level data, policies, workflows, and electronic health record systems to increase cancer‑screening services.
- Communicating with health‑system staff and technical assistance partners to develop, implement, and track CQI activities.
- Building partnerships and linkages between public health, state, and local systems, and the Colorado Cancer Coalition.
- Providing subject‑matter expertise in colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer evidence‑based interventions, surveillance data, and current literature.
- Collaborating with other programs and units to incorporate principles of health and racial equity into program administration and communication strategies.

Minimum QualificationsApplicants may qualify through either work experience alone or a combination of education and work experience:
- Work Experience Only: Six (6) years of professional experience in public health or a health‑related organization, including project management, population‑based initiatives, health systems, and technical assistance.
- Education and Experience: A related undergraduate degree (public health, nursing, health education/promotion, health policy, public administration, social work, or a closely related field) plus professional experience in public health or a health‑related organization. The combined experience must equal six (6) years and include project management, population‑based initiatives, health systems, and technical assistance.

Preferred Qualifications- Ability to gather relevant information, identify and analyze problems, and use sound reasoning to arrive at conclusions.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Data‑driven approach to inform implementation strategies.

- Clear, concise writing skills.
- Experience implementing evidence‑based interventions for quality improvement in a healthcare setting.
- User of electronic health records.
- Autonomous work style.
- Training or technical assistance delivery to groups and individuals.
- Background check required in accordance with CDPHE policy.
- Travel: Approximately 10% of time; local travel ~2 times/month and out‑of‑state travel ~2 times/year. Includes site visits and trainings across Colorado.
