If you are a current HFEMS RN Health Compliance Inspector (Health Professional III), you will maintain your current salary if hired. If step pay increases are available, your HRBP will work with you to audit your step pay/time-in-series upon an offer.
If you are not a current Colorado employee, the starting pay for this position is $80,916 annually.

Description of the Job The Work Unit

The Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division (HFEMSD) oversees and enforces federal and state statutes and regulations for approximately 3,200 health care facilities in Colorado, including hospitals, clinics, ambulatory surgical facilities, renal dialysis centers, EMS providers, trauma centers, long‑term care facilities, and more. The division licenses, recommends certification, conducts routine surveys, provides consumer safety and quality programs, recognizes EMS education programs, certifies EMS providers, and licenses all air ambulance services operating in the state.

Its mission is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of patients and residents by evaluating and securing compliance of licensed/facilitated providers, and to provide the public with information on health care facilities.

Summary of Position

This role is staffed by professionals who work independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team to assess the care, treatment, and quality of life provided by health care facilities through observations, interviews, and record review. The RN is required for the survey team, conducting nursing observations and medication pass tasks.

Duties of Position
  • Survey nursing facilities on an unannounced basis, independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team, to determine compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.
  • Assess the quality of care, services, and treatment of residents/patients, and evaluate facility practices through observations, record review, and interviews with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
  • Collect and document evidence and survey results based on observations, interviews, and record review.
  • Analyze evidence and survey results to determine compliance status.
  • Write clear, concise, and legally defensible statements of deficiencies based on findings and knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Advise health care facility providers, consumers, and other governmental agencies regarding regulatory requirements.
