If you are currently a HFEMS RN Health Professional III and are hired into this RN Health Professional III role you will maintain your current salary. If you are eligible for any step pay increases, the division HRBP will perform an audit on step pay/time-in-series upon an offer. If you are a current State of Colorado Health Professional III employee, the HRBP will work with you to audit your current salary, any applicable step pay/time-in-series increases and determine an appropriate salary upon an offer.
If you are not a current State of Colorado employee, the starting pay for this position is $80,916/annually.

The Work Unit
:
The Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division (HFEMSD) is responsible for the oversight and enforcement of a broad range of federal and state statutes and regulations applicable to a wide variety of healthcare facilities and services in Colorado. The division licenses, certifies and surveys healthcare facilities and services; provides patient safety and healthcare quality programs; recognizes emergency medical service (EMS) education programs;
certifies EMS providers and licenses air and ground ambulance services operating within the state.
Summary Position
:
This position is staffed by professionals who work independently or as a member of an interdisciplinary team to assess the care, treatment and quality of life provided by various health facilities through observations, interviews, and record reviews. Uses experience, training and judgment in evaluating and applying statutes, regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures on a case-by-case basis for facility compliance/violation. Writes statements of deficiencies, identifying areas of non-compliance with federal and state requirements.
Acts as resource, educator, and interpreter of regulations for service providers and consumers, based upon established guidelines, policies and procedures.
Experience Only:
- Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
- Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
OR
- A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to six (6) years. Examples are: graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree in a related field; additional two (2) years of related experience; current, valid RN licensure (Colorado or eNLC).

Conditions Of Employment
- A pre-employment background check
- Current, valid RN licensure (Colorado or eNLC)
- Travel up to 50% of the time within Colorado
- Willingness to work where contagious diseases may be present with PPE provided
- Be available during emergencies (e.g., disasters) and COOP activations; travel restrictions may apply
- Proficiency with word processing and current communication technology
- Influenza vaccination annually or mask requirement (exemption notes apply)
- COVID-19 vaccination required (see notes)
- Annual N-95 fit testing and PPE training
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Physical requirements:
lift/carry up to 45 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, climb stairs - Complete required surveyor training within six months of service
