Responsible for managing the daily operations of sleep lab services. Works with Sleep Center Director to assure sleep technologist staff are trained to produce high quality sleep testing in accordance with the standards set forth by American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and The Joint Commission (TJC.) This position will be responsible for the staffing, training and supervision of personnel.
- Manages/supervises and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, and disciplines, and rewards.
- Oversees daily operations of the Sleep Lab, and ensures all equipment and supplies are available.
- Prepares staff schedules, including identification of the appropriate number of personnel for daily activity making any necessary adjustments in assignments and schedules for the daily activity level.
- Actively involved in departmental quality improvement and quality control.
- Assists in the development, implements and follows standard operating procedures for the laboratory in accordance with NJH guidelines, AASM standards, OSHA, The Joint Commission, as well as state and federal regulations. Supports the effort to obtain and maintain AASM accreditation and monitor ongoing compliance with all relevant standards. Reports to respective managers and take corrective action as required.
- Serves as a role model in customer service for the department. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and good customer service skills with patients, physicians, other health care providers.
- Proactively strives to meet hospital and departmental productivity goals by being actively involved in the financial and budgetary targets of the department.
- Troubleshoots for problems associated with patient techniques, equipment, scheduling conflicts, physicians, internal departments and outside vendors. To include maintaining working condition of the sleep acquisition systems and database.
