The Vice President of Clinical Education provides enterprise-wide leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical education strategies across a multi–service line healthcare organization. This role ensures nursing and clinical staff are prepared to deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based care across diverse care settings. The VP partners with executive leadership, service line leaders, and quality teams to standardize education, advance workforce competency, and support organizational growth and regulatory compliance.

Enterprise

Clinical Education Strategy
  • Lead the development and execution of a unified clinical education strategy across multiple service lines and care settings.
  • Align education initiatives with organizational goals, patient outcomes, quality metrics, and workforce planning.
  • Ensure consistency in clinical education standards while allowing for service-line specific requirements.
Program Development & Oversight
  • Oversee education programs including onboarding, continuing education, specialty training, leadership development, and competency validation.
  • Standardize orientation, clinical pathways, and competency frameworks across service lines.
  • Leverage technology, simulation, and innovative learning modalities to enhance clinical education delivery.
Nursing & Clinical Excellence
  • Serve as a senior nursing leader, ensuring education supports clinical practice standards and scope of practice requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to identify skill gaps and implement targeted education interventions.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and professional development across all clinical disciplines.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure clinical education programs meet regulatory, accreditation, and licensure requirements (e.g., ACHC, CMS, state boards of nursing).
  • Partner with Quality, Risk, and Compliance teams to address clinical performance, patient safety, and survey readiness.
  • Lead remediation, competency validation, and performance improvement education initiatives as needed.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a system-wide clinical education team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and clinical excellence.
  • Support succession planning, career pathways, and workforce retention through strong education programs.
Collaboration & External Partnerships
  • Establish partnerships with academic institutions, professional organizations, and clinical training vendors.
  • Support recruitment pipelines and clinical placement programs.
  • Represent the organization in external clinical education and nursing leadership forums.
Budget & Resource Management
  • Develop and manage the education budget across service lines.
  • Evaluate and implement learning management systems, simulation resources, and education vendors.
  • Ensure cost-effective use of resources while scaling education programs enterprise wide.

Minimum Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
Master degree in Nursing preferred

Minimum Experience

10 years of progressive nursing experience, including senior leadership in clinical education, professional development, or nursing leadership. Experience leading education programs across multiple service lines or care settings. Strong knowledge of nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation processes. Demonstrated ability to lead system-level initiatives and influence executive and clinical leaders.

Required License

Unencumbered Colorado Nursing License. Valid Colorado State driver’s license and auto insurance
