Responsibilities
The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer provides ultrasound tests for patients and collaborates with other healthcare team members to deliver comprehensive care.
- Prepares patients for ultrasound examination.
- Explains procedures to the patient prior to scan and provides patient education materials.
- Conducts ultrasonic diagnostic procedures and records anatomical, pathological and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
- Assists physician during invasive procedures requiring ultrasound guidance.
- Records and processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the scan and presents them to the physician.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies and maintains ultrasound equipment.
- Participates in professional development trainings.
- Maintains required certification and registries.
- Performs other assigned duties as directed.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
- Maintain or be eligible for certification as an American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) in OB/GYN.
- Must provide evidence of continuing education credits to fulfill accreditation requirements.
- CPR certification required.
- Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.
- Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

The expected pay for the position ranges from $40.82 - $78.94 per hour. The actual pay will be computed based on years of relevant experience.
