As a Specimen Technician, you'll help ensure the accurate processing and handling of laboratory specimens that support critical diagnostic testing and contribute to quality healthcare outcomes.
Pay Rate:$19.68 - $22.64 per hour (based on experience)
Employment Type:Contingent with potential pathway for hire
Schedule:Monday through Friday, 8:00 PM - 4:30 AM, with a rotating Saturday once every 3 weeks
Why This Role MattersSpecimen Technicians are a vital part of the laboratory process, ensuring specimens are accurately received, processed, and routed for testing. Your attention to detail and commitment to quality directly support timely and accurate patient diagnoses.
What You'll Do- Receive, sort, and process laboratory specimens in a high-volume production environment
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate specimen records
- Prepare specimens through centrifugation, aliquoting, imaging, and other processing functions
- Ensure proper handling and routing of specimens to laboratory departments
- Follow established quality, safety, and compliance procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Communicate effectively with team members and laboratory staff
- Adapt to changing priorities and workload demands as needed
- A current, up-to-date resume
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong data entry skills with the ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour
- Basic computer proficiency
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a biohazard laboratory environment
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Previous laboratory, medical, hospital, or production environment experience preferred but not required
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
- Ability to meet compliance requirements
- Must be eligible and provide proof of eligibility to work in the US
