Overview
The Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center is a 4-Star Full Service 451-room hotel with 30,000 square feet of conference space. We are currently recruiting a dynamite individual for our Banquets department. We are located in the Hampden South neighborhood near I-25 and 225 in the tech center.
Compensation and ScheduleFlexible work hours - Captain $18.50 – $20.00 hourly + tips. Day shift, night shift, weekends, and holiday availability.
Responsibilities- Supervise banquet staff in the completion of assigned functions and set-up, and oversee service and break-down functions in a safe and efficient manner.
- Check server and BEOs to ensure information is accurate; verify room set-ups follow BEO directions and that public areas are neat and clean.
- Make contact with group representatives and explain how to reach them throughout the function.
- Communicate all BEO changes to the catering office and affected departments.
- Coordinate with banquet staff on set-ups, changes, and time schedules for all functions.
- Verify staffing levels for the next day’s functions and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Operate as a banquet server when needed (setting up, greeting, serving guests, and breaking down the function).
- Inspect banquet areas at the end of a function to ensure equipment is returned and areas are clean.
- Get banquet checks signed by clients, recap all checks at the end of the day, and submit to Night Audit.
- Coach and counsel associates to enhance performance; administer corrective/disciplinary actions when necessary. Know the menu for each function and explain major ingredients and preparation methods.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures; follow safety and security procedures and rules; know fire prevention and emergency procedures; utilize protective equipment; report unsafe conditions and any accidents or losses.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per team member standards.
- Perform related duties as requested by the supervisor and assist other Banquet personnel when needed.
Two years of hotel banquet food/beverage service.
- Hold a current Food Handler Card (or be willing to obtain at Hyatt’s cost).
- Able to process paperwork; basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware; familiarity with various equipment and setup styles used in meeting rooms (e.g., different table types such as round or schoolroom).
- Ability to understand verbal English sufficient to understand verbal job requests from supervisors and guests.
Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis; lifting up to 30 pounds; ability to grasp, lift, carry, or move goods on a hand cart/truck weighing up to 100 lbs.
