This is a Denver Water Limited Term position with an expected end date of 1 year from the hiring date.

Position Summary

Under direct supervision, perform routine non-complex program maintenance and documentation of business applications. Develop, maintain, enhance, and implement business software applications. Coordinate with all areas of the business to ensure successful acceptance and use of solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Apply a broad knowledge of IT principles and methodologies in the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation of business applications.
  • Plan and implement software upgrades and ensure change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed.
  • Collaborate with users and IT colleagues to provide solutions to business problems.
  • Prepare program specifications and system documentation as required for development efforts.
  • Contribute to the design of new applications and/or participate in the selection process of software package. Assist with the installation of hardware and software.
  • Perform, maintain, and manage installations, upgrades, patch application and troubleshooting to third-party packaged business applications.
  • Design, enhance, develop, configure, maintain, implement, test and support business and operational software applications of low to medium complexity.
  • Provide 24/7 production support (as required) for business applications. Troubleshoots business application problems and deploys solutions.
  • Apply defensive application design and secure coding practices to avoid security vulnerabilities. Employ mitigation techniques on common application architecture design flaws.
  • Implement effective security controls against web application vulnerabilities beyond application input validation.
  • Prepare for and perform IT and/or ICS cyber incident response as required.
  • Perform related work as required.

The following discipline(s) fall under this job description:

  • Power BI: The Power BI Application Developer is responsible for building and publishing basic Power BI solutions, including data modeling, report and dashboard development, simple DAX calculations, connecting to common data sources (Excel, CSV, SQL Server), applying visualization best practices, performing basic data transformations, managing report sharing and permissions, and resolving common refresh and visualization issues.
Limited-term Employment

Limited-term positions are full-time positions with the same rights, benefits, and responsibilities as regular employees under Denver Water’s Personnel Policies. The primary difference is that limited-term positions have an expected end date.

These positions are used for project-based work that is not ongoing in nature and is typically expected to last two or more years. Employees are hired for a defined period based on project needs, with the understanding that the end date may occur earlier than planned, on time, or be extended. A limited-term appointment ends when the employee’s role on the project is completed or when the position is no longer needed.

Hiring Range

$107,300 - $121,606 annually
