POSITION SUMMARYThe Data Engineer II supports the business and artificial intelligence portfolio and provides data architect services to the entire organization. They drive the OmniTRAX data management and business intelligence portfolios. They identify and implement data integrations to support efficient operations. They provide data modeling and development best practices and conduct proof-of-concept projects to identify new opportunities.
The Data Engineer II utilizes a consultative approach to team with OmniTRAX business functions. They bring knowledge of industry standards, best practices and process discipline. They implement process rigor and data hygiene to improve business operations. They have a focus on streamlining processes through technology and are passionate about training and imparting this benefit to their business partners.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Design, architect, and develop BI reporting solutions
- Facilitate data integration among applications heavily involving Software-as-a-Service core application programming interfaces (APIs)
- Architect and maintain databases, warehouses or lakehouse environments
- Align architecture with business strategies
- Provide technical leadership and management of master data management needs including systems, databases, and integrations
- Productionize data for analytics, machine learning and applications
- Document and maintain data model diagrams, data flow diagrams, integration diagrams, and other application information
- Explores technical approaches to be implemented by project teams, and guides the participants from discovery through rollout of the implementations
- Uses technical judgement to steer IT projects in technical directions that align with corporate objectives
- Participates in OmniTRAX standard system development practices, including requirements development, lifecycle project conduct, and system testing
- Work collaboratively across all lines of business and departments with a positive attitude focused on delivering value from the applications and resources
- Continuously analyze and monitor utilization of systems and applications for current and future needs
- Translate business needs into product backlogs, user stories, and business requirements to optimize business value of applications and processes
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues; communicate with internal and external technical resources to resolve end user issues; provide guidance to users on methods for correcting reported issues
- Generate innovative solutions by approaching problems with curiosity and open-mindedness; use existing information to its fullest potential
- Maintain knowledge about current and emerging technologies that may benefit the company

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Information Systems, or equivalent technical expertise
- 2-4 years’ experience in related capacity
- Computer skills in Microsoft stack, including Azure, Power BI, and SQL Server
- Project management skills; prioritize concurrent assignments
- Self-starter, multi-task to deliver deadlines and meet business goals
- Strong reasoning skills; utilizing data, information, history, and experience in problem solving; considerable judgment and broad decision-making
- Superior interpersonal and customer services skills to meet and/or exceed customer expectations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively converse with all levels of the company, customers, or business associates

- Previous experience in Rail Transportation, Supply Chain Logistics, Manufacturing and/or Oil and Gas industries
- Working experience in Agile methodologies
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Work in a climate-controlled office and routinely use standard office equipment
- Up to 5%, as business requires
- Exact starting salary is determined by merit; seniority; geographic location; education, training, and/or experience related to job duties and responsibilities
