Torch Technologies is seeking a highly experienced Systems Architect to join a team providing critical services to the Missile Defense Agency in Colorado Springs, CO. As a systems architect you will lead the design, development, and accreditation of high-assurance information systems. You will serve as the primary technical authority for engineering and sustaining secure systems that operate at DoD Protection Levels 3 and 4.

This role is responsible for interpreting and implementing the stringent cybersecurity requirements of the Joint Special Access Program (SAP) Implementation Guide (JSIG) and the Risk Management Framework (RMF). The ideal candidate will be an expert in translating mission needs into compliant, resilient, and defensible system architectures.

Responsibilities
  • JSIG/RMF Design Lead:

    Serve as the subject matter expert on all matters related to JSIG and the RMF.
  • Guide systems through the entire Assessment and Authorization (A&A) lifecycle to achieve and maintain an Authority to Operate (ATO).
  • Design and document end-to-end system architectures for classified environments, ensuring the robust integration of network infrastructure, compute, storage, virtualization, and cybersecurity components.
  • Ensure all architectural designs are fully compliant with the JSIG, DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), NIST SP 800-53 security controls, and other relevant DoD directives.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive set of RMF artifacts, including the System Security Plan (SSP), Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M), Security Control Traceability Matrix (SCTM), and detailed system and network topology diagrams.
  • Assess and integrate new technologies such as Cross Domain Solutions (CDS), virtualization platforms, and secure cloud services (IaaS/PaaS) to enhance mission capability while maintaining a compliant security posture.
  • Act as a technical liaison between government Authorizing Officials (AOs), Information System Security Managers (ISSMs), engineering teams, and program management to ensure security requirements are understood and met.
Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 7 years in a systems architecture, security engineering, or senior system administration role within classified DoD or Intelligence Community (IC) environments.
  • Active TS clearance is required.
  • Demonstrable, hands‑on experience designing, building, and accrediting systems under the JSIG and RMF guidelines.
  • Must meet DoD 8570/8140 IAM Level III requirements. Hold a current CISSP, CISM, or GSLC certification.
  • Expert‑level, applied knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the Joint Special Access Program (SAP) Implementation Guide (JSIG).
  • Deep understanding of network security architecture, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and secure network segmentation.
  • Proven experience applying DISA STIGs to harden operating systems (Windows, Linux), network devices, and applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Direct experience architecting and accrediting systems using Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC).
  • Experience with secure cloud architectures in AWS Gov Cloud or Azure Government at Impact Levels 5 or 6.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper‑V in secure environments.
  • CISSP-ISSAP (Information System Security Architecture Professional) certification.
