Snowflake Administrator / Dev Ops Engineer
The Snowflake Administrator / Dev Ops Engineer is responsible for maintaining a secure, reliable, and cost-effective Snowflake platform on AWS. This role supports data and analytics teams by automating operations, managing cloud infrastructure, improving performance, and ensuring compliance and governance across the data platform.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build, and maintain secure Snowflake environments and data pipelines.
- Manage Snowflake accounts, databases, schemas, warehouses, and resource monitoring across development, test, and production environments.
- Implement and support data ingestion and orchestration using Snowpipe, Streams/Tasks, Kafka Connector, and AWS S3.
- Maintain security and access controls using RBAC, masking policies, row-level security, and SSO integrations (Okta/Entra ).
- Automate data governance processes including PII tagging and policy enforcement.
- Manage infrastructure and Snowflake configurations using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for dbt, ELT processes, schema migrations, and data deployments.
- Monitor platform health, query performance, data freshness, and system reliability using observability and alerting tools.
- Optimize Snowflake usage and cloud costs through warehouse tuning, query optimization, and usage reporting.
- Support integrations with AWS services, BI/reporting tools, and metadata/catalog platforms.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting, incident response, root cause analysis, and operational support.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering, Security, and Business teams to improve platform efficiency and reliability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in platform, systems, or Dev Ops engineering.
- 3+ years of hands‑on Snowflake administration experience in AWS cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of Snowflake security, RBAC, Streams/Tasks, Snowpipe, performance tuning, and resiliency strategies.
- Experience with AWS services such as EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and VPC.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools, Git workflows, SQL, and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
- Understanding of cloud networking, security, Linux/Windows administration, and IAM/KMS concepts.
- Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, and Istio.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Cloud Watch, Datadog, or Splunk.
- Experience integrating Snowflake with BI and data governance tools like Tableau, Qlik, Collibra, SAS, or Alteryx.
- Experience supporting highly available, cost‑optimized data platforms.
- Strong customer‑service mindset with a focus on automation and documentation.
