Position: Dynatrace Subject Matter Expert (SME) & Team Lead

Role Summary

Remote or optional onsite in NC or PHX, AZ or DFW, TX. Our client seeks a Dynatrace Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Team Lead to own enterprise observability and application performance monitoring across a large financial services environment.

Lead a team of six Dynatrace engineers and analysts while serving as the primary expert for Dynatrace architecture, deployment, optimization, and governance. Drive monitoring strategy, set standards for alerting and instrumentation, ensure full‑stack visibility across hybrid environments, and partner with development, Dev Ops, SRE, and infrastructure teams to surface actionable insights that improve reliability and user experience.

Compensation

Rate: $80 to $85/hr (W2). Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, and life insurance.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of six Dynatrace engineers and analysts.
  • Set team priorities, manage workload distribution, and ensure delivery against SLAs and KPIs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Align observability initiatives with business goals in partnership with senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Own Dynatrace platform architecture, deployment, optimization, and governance.
  • Design and maintain enterprise‑scale Dynatrace environments, SaaS or Managed.
  • Define and enforce monitoring standards, naming conventions, alerting strategies, and governance.
  • Implement distributed tracing, RUM, synthetic and infrastructure monitoring, and AIOps capabilities.
  • Optimize instrumentation for cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid environments.
  • Develop and execute an enterprise observability roadmap aligned to digital transformation.
  • Drive adoption of full‑stack monitoring across applications, infrastructure, and user experience.
  • Identify and close observability gaps across critical systems.
  • Lead performance analysis, root cause investigation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with application development, Dev Ops, SRE, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on performance engineering best practices.
  • Support incident management and post‑incident reviews with actionable insights.
  • Deliver executive reporting and dashboards on health and performance trends.
  • Ensure monitoring solutions meet security, audit, and compliance requirements for financial services.
  • Maintain documentation, operational procedures, and platform standards.
  • Support audit and regulatory activities related to monitoring and observability.
Experience Requirements
  • 6+ years of hands‑on Dynatrace experience in large enterprise environments.
  • 8+ years in APM, observability, or SRE.
  • Proven experience leading or supervising technical teams.
  • Expertise with One Agent deployment and configuration, Smartscape topology, service flow mapping, alerting, dashboards, and custom metrics or events.
  • Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries preferred.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with microservices and containers including Kubernetes or Open Shift.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a proactive mindset.
  • Preferred:
    Dynatrace certifications, IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible, complementary tools such as Splunk, App Dynamics, New Relic, or Prometheus, scripting with Python, Power Shell, or Bash, and AIOps or automation‑driven monitoring strategies.
