Information Security Threat Management Specialist

Position Summary

The IDS/IPS and network access monitoring team is dedicated to protecting Bank of America, its assets, customers, and staff. The team uses network access monitoring, logging and monitoring tools, and intrusion detection systems to detect and respond to cyber‑attacks. The analyst will work with automated and manual security controls across on‑premise and cloud networks, update controls with new intelligence, and provide incident response to protect, contain, and resolve security events.

• Perform daily analysis of security events.
• Build and enhance automated controls to detect security events.
• Work with vendors to maintain security controls.
• Develop and implement processes or controls to support audit and risk requirements.
• Partner with senior leaders from lines of business to triage security events and report on key initiatives.
• Mentor and develop less experienced team members.
• Perform on‑call and after‑hour work as required.

• Five to seven years of experience in network security.
• Strong intrusion analysis background.
• Advanced knowledge of network communications.
• Experience with packet captures and interpreting network traffic.
• Familiarity with web application attacks (SQL injection, cross‑site scripting).
• Strong Splunk skill set.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and conceptual thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently on initiatives with little oversight.
• Ability to work with technical and non‑technical business owners.
• Motivated and willing to learn; comfortable delivering messages across diverse audiences.
• Previous network security experience required.

• Strong IDS/IPS system administration.
• Experience with Net Flow/IPFIX based technologies.
• Firewall administration experience.
• Application development experience.
• Network penetration testing experience.
• Unix/Linux system administration experience.
• Experience with scripting and automation.
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK framework.

Annualized salary range: $95,700.00 – $, based on experience, education, and skill set. Eligible for an annual discretionary incentive plan.
