Overview

Office of Information Technology is seeking an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) – Senior Incident Response Lead. The incumbent will lead the detection, analysis, and response to cyber incidents threatening the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise assets. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate across teams to ensure rapid, effective, and consistent incident response.

  • Coordinate across teams to ensure rapid and effective incident response.
  • Analyze telemetry data to identify root causes of cyber incidents.
  • Work with different groups to handle a cyber incident.
  • Deliver reports that explain what happened and what the team learned.
  • Provide technical direction to team members during security and cyber incidents.
Qualifications
  • Basic Requirement: IT‑related experience demonstrating each of the following competencies:
    • Attention to Detail – thorough and conscientious in all work.
    • Customer Service – works with clients and customers, assesses needs, provides information, resolves problems, and satisfies expectations.
    • Oral Communication – expresses information clearly, considers audience, delivers convincing presentations, listens, and responds appropriately.
    • Problem Solving – identifies problems, evaluates alternatives, and makes recommendations.
  • Minimum Qualification Requirement (SK‑14): At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK‑13 level, including:
    • Analyzing telemetry data to identify the root cause of a cyber incident.
    • Working with different groups to handle a cyber incident.
    • Delivering reports that explain what happened and what the team learned.
    • Providing technical direction to team members during security and cyber incidents.
  • Accomplishment Record Competencies
    • Cyber Defense Analysis: Uses defensive measures and information from multiple sources to identify, analyze, and report events within the network to protect information systems from threats.
    • Critical Thinking: Considers a variety of factors, both general and subject‑specific, when making decisions and determining next steps.
    • Technical Communication: Translates technical information into non‑technical terms and conveys it accurately to end users, management, and outside parties, including documentation of applications, systems, and standard operating procedures.
    • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Applies principles, methods, and tools to design or implement systems that perform human‑like intelligence functions, such as neural networks, deep learning, natural language processing, and image recognition.
