Data Migration Specialist
6+ years experience in implementing NAS/SAN data migration practices. History of supporting weekend production data copy and infrastructure tech refresh activities. Storage hardware/tools
- Unity IMT, VNX, Net App FAS/ONTAP, Datadobi/Rsync/EMCopy experience required. Service Now/Other Change Management product is required. Excel
- Intermediate to advanced level. Good understanding of network attached storage technology including Dell/EMC, IBM legacy, Net App, Pure, EMC Centera platforms. High level knowledge of NFS, CIFS, MIXED data protocols and file data storage management. Functional technical expertise with NAS focused knowledge of DNS, VPN, AD, data replication, load balancing, distributed backup, switches, servers, firewalls, Linux/Unix, Windows. Knowledgeable in the use of file based copy tools - rsync, emcopy, robocopy.
Deliver data migration services by cooperative engagement with Team peers, Project Managers/Coordinators as well as Client SA, DBA, Application and Production Support Teams. Perform NAS share analysis to group storage in scope into executable activities for each migration event. Experience consolidating storage into migration groups and drafting/running scripts to execute copy activities and create copy logs. Perform technical pre-post-migration tasks included carving of NAS aggregates, increasing of QTree / share sizes, and logical decommission of filers after migrations complete.
Ability to understand and adhere to the technical migration runbooks, checklists - processes used to deliver data migration services. Familiarity with change management processes including task specific activities to support migration activities. Support seamlessly executed migration processes ensuring minimal impact on production infrastructure. Ability to prioritize and organize effectively in an extremely fast paced environment. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent knowledge of systems, reporting, and requirements gathering in relation to Service Delivery. Excellent troubleshooting and impact assessment skills. Ability to lift 70+ lbs. carry, and/or otherwise move items weighing approximately 50 pounds; climb ladders, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
