Job Title: GIS Analyst
Location: 99% Remote (1% onsite in Denver, CO – REQUIRED)
Contract Duration: 12-Month Contract
Work Schedule: (8:00 AM–4:30 PM), 40 hours per week
Compensation: $39.00
System One is actively seeking a GIS Analyst for a contract position located in Denver, CO. This position supports the Wildfire Mitigation Program by reviewing, maintaining, and analyzing GIS and database (Access) data for accuracy and completeness before it is submitted to internal teams responsible for instantiating and maintaining field devices. The analyst will assist with both new device installations and maintenance of existing equipment, verifying templates and data accuracy, supporting engineering, and managing the Common Device Database.
The work heavily involves GIS data management and data validation for engineering and communications systems.
- Analyze and validate data, processing data requests (often from the project manager), and ensuring accurate submission to downstream departments.
- Maintain existing data templates and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve data issues.
- Work independently on assigned datasets, with some collaboration via Teams or email.
- The position supports a team of approximately 7–8 people. Key collaborators include project managers, GIS specialists, engineers, and contractors/vendors working on the wildfire and communications projects.
- The role is both individual and collaborative. The analyst will work independently most of the time but must collaborate with multiple teams (engineering, GIS, data, project management) to ensure data accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- 2–4 years of GIS and Analytics experience
- Strong GIS background
- Experience with Access databases and Share Point
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, SharePoint)
- Familiarity with distribution management systems (DMS) preferred
- Effective data analysis and data validation skills
- Effective communicator
- Collaborative and team-oriented
- Self-starter with strong time management skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting
- Ideal background includes GIS or mapping experience (e.g., utility or communications mapping).
- Experience in utilities or communications industries is preferred but not required
