Position SummaryResponsible for providing expertise, vision, leadership and strategic direction to establish and maintain the company's big data footprint. Create and promote architecture design patterns and facilitate solutions that leverage those patterns. Responsible for providing design leadership in large or complex development of end-to-end big data projects involving application development, migrations and additions to existing applications.
Essential Responsibilities- Create and maintain big data architecture standards and frameworks supporting the big data strategy. Lead and drive efforts to develop, maintain and measure reference architecture, standards, design patterns and related technical documentation to ensure implementation of the strategic big data plan.
- Develop business, information and technical architectures aligned with data strategies and principles; develop optimized technology roadmaps to support strategic data. Responsible for development and maintenance of corporate analytics big data architecture and technology directions that integrate data and systems.
- Coordinate, review and approve projects and work efforts to ensure compliance with big data architectural standards, policies and guidelines. Manage technical governance of technology solutions, big data architecture principles, reference architecture and standards.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of big data and enterprise architecture technologies. Apply knowledge in the continued development and enhancement of advanced analytics plans.
- Interact with senior management and effectively communicate highly technical information to numerous audiences. Develop relationships and gain support from related stakeholders.
- Anticipate business needs and trends and determine the direction Advanced Analytics/Big Data must take to properly support the business.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS, MIS or related field.
- Eight years of big data experience with multiple programming languages and technologies.
- Experience with large-scale big data methods, researching, experimenting, and utilizing leading big data methodologies and technologies.
- Experience with architecture, implementation and testing data processing pipelines, data mining and data science algorithms on a variety of hosted settings.
- Ability to translate advanced business analytics problems into technical approaches that yield actionable recommendations across multiple, diverse domains; communicate results and educate others through design and build of insightful visualizations, reports and presentations.
- Fluency in several programming languages, with the ability to pick up new languages and technologies quickly; understanding of cloud and distributed systems principles, including load balancing, networks, scaling, in-memory vs. disk.
- Demonstrated ability to work with team members and clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve problems.
- Utility experience.
- Wildfire experience.
- Geospatial data understanding.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Fivetran, data engineering and ETL processes.
