The IT Asset Management Specialist I is responsible for provisioning, imaging, and shipping laptops and other end‑user equipment, as well as providing front‑line technical support to users. This role blends physical hardware support with traditional Tier 1 service desk responsibilities.
Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities- Receive, inventory, and prepare IT hardware for deployment (e.g., laptops, phones, accessories)
- Image, configure, and ship end‑user devices following documented procedures
- Maintain stock levels, shipping logs, and documentation related to hardware provisioning
- Handle incoming IT support requests through ticketing platform, phone, or walk‑ups
- Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues
- Escalate complex issues or trends following team procedures
- Provide timely updates and communication with users about open tickets
- Use knowledge base resources and contribute updates to documentation
- Coordinate with other IT staff for escalations, handoffs or delivery timing
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
Estimated 0–5% time spent:
- Local travel may be required for equipment pickup or delivery between sites
- No regular overnight travel required
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or IT certification preferred
- 1 year of experience in a technical support or warehouse/shipping role preferred
- Familiarity with imaging software and hardware configuration
- Experience with service desk or ticketing systems
- Basic understanding of IT hardware (laptops, peripherals, phones)
- Ability to follow detailed documentation and procedures
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs and standing for periods of time
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent – Preferred
- ITIL v4 Foundations – Preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Basic troubleshooting ability
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow through on commitments
- Willingness to learn new tools and processes
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, task‑driven environment
