Systems Development Engineer – Google – Colorado, USA

• Experience with Linux/Unix management and internals.
• Experience troubleshooting Linux and networking issues.
• Proficiency in automation and coding with languages such as Bash, JavaScript, Python, or other scripting languages.

• Root‑cause analysis of networking, storage, or system issues.
• Experience with programming/scripting languages including Java, C, C++, Python, Shell scripting, and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with cloud technology and enterprise compute environments.
• Knowledge of internet peering/routing topologies (e.g., BGP) and frontend development.

• Assist Linux machines worldwide to ensure reliability of Google’s content delivery and compute infrastructure.
• Collaborate regularly with partner Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to provide remote troubleshooting and IP networking support.
• Participate in follow‑the‑sun operations team via a roster throughout core hours.
• Identify and execute automation opportunities to improve support and onboard new hardware and services.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams, hardware vendors, product managers, and partners.

Base salary: $96,000 – $139,000 annually (plus bonus, equity, and benefits). The range is determined by function, stage, and region.
