Systems Engineer, Cloud Computing: Infrastructure & Operations
About the role:
We are seeking a customer-facing, hands-on Workstation Technologist to serve as the presales subject-matter expert for the HP Workstation portfolio — spanning GPU-accelerated platforms, RTX-powered systems, edge AI workstations, and enterprise workstation solutions. You will translate customer workloads into right-sized architectures, lead technical discovery through proof-of-concept (PoC), and help customers deploy and optimize mission-critical solutions.
This role is best suited for someone with high performance compute (HPC) who can communicate credibly with engineers and confidently with executives. Primary emphasis is on AI inference acceleration and advanced workstation workflows for enterprise customers (e.g., simulation/visualization and digital twin enablement), with adjacent exposure to industrial/edge use cases as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Engagement & Technical Discovery
- Lead discovery with enterprise customers to understand workloads, success criteria, constraints, and deployment environments.
- Deliver technical workshops, whiteboard sessions, and demos tailored to AI acceleration and advanced workstation workflows.
- Act as the primary presales technical authority for the HP Advanced Compute / Workstation portfolio.
- Solution Architecture, Validation & Proof of Concept
- Design end-to-end architectures that integrate GPU compute, storage, networking, and edge-to-cloud orchestration where applicable.
- Provide architecture guidance for AI inference, simulation, visualization, and digital twin enablement; evaluate fit for adjacent workloads (HPC/industrial/robotics) as needed.
- Build PoCs in customer environments; define test plans, run experiments, and document results.
- Conduct performance modeling, benchmarking, tuning, and optimization across Linux/Windows workstation configurations.
- Enablement, Assets & Field Feedback
- Create and maintain reference architectures, deployment guides, and repeatable playbooks that scale across the field.
- Partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Alliance teams to share field insights, influence roadmap priorities, and improve solution packaging.
- Deliver repeatable discovery + architecture approach for top target workloads (AI inference acceleration, simulation/visualization, digital twins).
- Complete 3‑6 customer workshops and 2‑4 PoCs with documented results, configurations, and recommendations.
- Publish at least 2 reference architectures or playbooks that are adopted by the field.
- Establish benchmarking baselines for key HP workstation configurations and common customer frameworks.
- Provide actionable field feedback to Product/Engineering with clear priority, customer impact, and technical rationale.
Location:
Barcelona, UK, Spain, US and Morocco. Travel: up to 25‑40% (customer/partner engagements, workshops, and on‑site PoCs) depending on territory needs.
- 5+ years in presales engineering, solution architecture, advanced computing, GPU systems, workstation architecture, and/or edge AI platforms.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
- Strong Linux and Windows troubleshooting and performance‑tuning skills for workstation‑class systems.
- Ability to build and execute PoCs: define test plans, run benchmarks, interpret results, and communicate tradeoffs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to both technical and executive audiences.
- Experience with HP Advanced Compute solutions and workstation portfolio positioning.
- Experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, simulation/visualization pipelines, and/or digital twin workflows.
- Background in HPC, industrial edge, robotics, or automation workloads.
- Certifications such as NVIDIA DLI, or cloud AI certifications (AWS/GCP/Azure), or equivalent.
- Experience optimizing AI/ML inference performance and/or GPU‑accelerated workstation workflows.
- Customer‑first problem solving; ability to translate ambiguous needs into testable requirements and architectures.
- Executive‑ready communication: clear storytelling, crisp…
