Database Administrator
Position Description
Under general supervision, the Full Stack Developer oversees and supports the Colorado GEAR UP database, scholarship databases, student portfolio, and websites and is also responsible for data collection, data storage and reporting. This position is a key player in providing the team with effective tools that will enhance program efficiency and productivity.
Term Limited NoticeThis position is term-limited and is contingent upon continued funding from the U.S. Department of Education. This role may be renewed annually through September 30, 2032, based on the availability of federal funding.
Supervision ExercisedThis position does not supervise any employees.
Scope of ResponsibilitiesThis intermediate level position is responsible for independently performing specialized application development duties in support of the Gear Up Program. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures, practices and policies of the work unit.
Job DutiesDatabase Administration
- Administer the GEAR UP database development, expansion and maintenance for the Colorado GEAR UP staff and federal reporting
- Administer the GEAR UP scholarship database development, expansion and maintenance for the Colorado GEAR UP staff and institutions of higher education
- Administer the GEAR UP Student Portfolio development, expansion, and maintenance for student and advisor activities and parent engagement; portfolio activities include tracking college and scholarship applications, financial aid, milestone tasks, surveys and more
- Provide regular demonstrations and refresh training for staff and partners
- Conduct troubleshooting and system improvements
Website Development
- Update and maintain the current website content
- Develop and maintain website themes, design and navigation
- Create new web pages and functionality
- Manage search engine analytics to maximize traffic and monitor visits
Reporting and Data Management
- Manage data uploads
- Develop automated reports for data
- Develop reporting expansions and enhancements for the College Portfolio
- Extract and analyze data, create reports, and deliver outcomes
- Complete the specified sections of the Colorado GEAR UP Annual Performance Report and Final Performance Report
Other
- Data share with external evaluators and other approved parties
- Provide database training and support for staff members
- Administer and manage security for all applications
- Administer and manage accessibility for all applications
Education and Experience
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in computer science, information technology or related field
Substitution:Four (4) years of experience in a related field can replace the education requirement of a bachelor’s degree
Experience:- One (1) plus year of experience with Microsoft SQL Server Database including table management, T-SQL and stored procedures
- One (1) plus year of experience with and ASP.Net
- Experience with Visual Studio
- Experience creating web-based reports or ability to learn
Education:
- Knowledge of the K-12 and higher education system including standardized testing, college entrance and placement tests, concurrent enrollment, college admissions and financial aid
