responsibilitiesthe unit is the lower appeal authority for unemployment insurance matters. The position analyses, reviews, and processes appeals of a deputy’s decision under the colorado employment security act and related regulations. It ensures due process for all interested parties, conducts administrative hearings, and issues timely written decisions pursuant to statutes, regulations, and case law. The role determines credibility, applies law and regulations, and issues decisions on eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits and taxes.

after minimum qualification screening, the comparative analysis process will involve an open-book written exam covering portions of the colorado employment security act, regulations concerning employment security, usdol handbook for measuring ui lower authority appeals quality (et no. 382, 3rd edition), colorado case law related to unemployment insurance, and decision writing. You will have from 8 am on friday, march 6th, 2026 until 11:59 pm on thursday, march 12th, 2026 to complete and return the exam to .
minimumqualifications
experience only:
seven (7) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to this position.
or
education and experience:
a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to seven (7) years.
- jd
- experience adjudicating benefit claims or experience with claims intake and explanation of claims processes.
- experience providing written decisions including findings of fact, conclusions of law and supporting legal citations.
- understanding of colorado and federal unemployment laws along with relaxed rules of evidence.
