Position: Compliance Investigator I's: DORA/Division of Civil Rights

Hybrid Workplace Arrangement
Although this position will be designated under the department’s hybrid workplace program, it will still be required to report to the department office on a scheduled basis and at the discretion of the supervisor, based on business need.

$4,906 - $6,370 /month
This range is listed; the hiring salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Description of Job

The Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD) enforces the Colorado Anti‑Discrimination Act (CADA). The Investigations work unit handles evidence collection, investigation, and determination recommendation in cases of alleged discrimination; mediation; and fulfillment of federal contract goals.

Position
: SFA 3202 & 3685

Duties (selected)

  • Conduct investigations of discrimination charges, collect information, data, and affidavits; preserve evidence; interview witnesses; and report findings.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to investigations, including drafting and mailing documents.
  • Enter charges and investigation data into the division’s case management system and federal applications.
  • Draft Letters of Determination by applying applicable law to investigative findings.
  • Conduct legal research using Lexus Nexus, federal guidance, and other online resources.
  • Conduct public outreach, training, and educational programs on discrimination and related topics.
  • Conduct mediation conferences and conciliations with parties.
  • Identify issues for resolution and remedies; review settlement options with parties.
Minimum Qualifications (MQs)

There are two ways to qualify:
1) Experience OR
2) Combination of Education and Experience.

Option 1:
Experience
  • Five (5) years of relevant full‑time professional investigative experience in legal, government, human resources, or insurance settings, including:
    • Gathering, interpreting, and analyzing evidence in complex cases.
    • Distinguishing relevant and irrelevant evidence and preparing analysis.
    • Fostering cooperation under stressful situations with diverse audiences.
    • Presenting clear oral and written summaries.
Option 2:

Education and Experience
  • Associate’s Degree in a related field
    ** AND
    * * three (3) years of relevant full‑time professional investigative experience, including the functions listed above.
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
    ** AND
    * * one (1) year of relevant full‑time professional investigative experience, including the functions listed above.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree and/or Juris Doctor.
  • Prior government or regulatory environment experience.
  • Native or bilingual proficiency in a second language (Spanish preferred).
  • Experience with CADA, Title VII, ADEA, ADAAA, and Title VIII.
  • Experience communicating with diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Legal writing experience drafting conclusions based on jurisprudence.
  • Ability to manage large caseloads and adapt to shifting priorities.
