Investigate allegations of criminal activity to determine if Colorado or federal law was violated.

Handle a wide variety of complex case types that require a vast array of training and experience in felony‑level criminal matters.

Manage complex, multi‑jurisdictional matters, including violations of COCCA.

Investigate matters involving drug‑related crimes, election crimes, fraud, homicide, human trafficking, identity theft, public corruption, state tax fraud, and other crimes appropriate for investigation and prosecution by the Special Prosecutions Unit.

Partner with and assist law enforcement agencies in investigations and enforcement of laws related to all crimes originating in any jurisdiction within Colorado.

Conduct full‑service criminal investigations, including independent verification of allegations through interviews and evidence gathering.

Provide investigative and logistical assistance to federal, state, and local agencies; assist the State Grand Jury; provide specialized expertise to other law enforcement and regulatory professionals; and provide instructional services, technical advice, and training to other governmental and / or professional audiences.

Work regularly with several prosecuting agencies and federal, state, and local law enforcement in a cooperative and collective manner.

Serve as a liaison among federal, state, and local law enforcement entities on any criminal matters that impact or affect the State of Colorado.

Assist other parts of the Special Prosecutions Unit and Criminal Justice Section as needed.

Six years of professional investigative experience as a full‑time sworn detective or sworn criminal investigator at the felony level for a government law enforcement agency, with filing of felony‑level criminal cases in a criminal court as the lead investigator.

OR a combination of directly related education (such as criminal justice, psychology, or sociology) and professional investigative experience equal to six years, including filing felony‑level criminal cases in a criminal court as the lead investigator.

Experience must be as a sworn detective or sworn criminal investigator in a full‑time capacity; patrol work or ancillary investigatory work does not meet the minimum qualifications.

Foreign degree holders must submit an evaluation from an accredited institution.

Acted as the lead investigator on a minimum of 50 felony‑level cases.

Investigative experience with complex investigations such as COCCA violations, fraud investigations, homicides, or human trafficking.

Certified Fraud Examiner credentials from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Undergraduate or graduate study in accounting, finance, or criminology; transcript requested.

Previous experience training law enforcement personnel.

Ability to interpret and translate Spanish.
