About the Role
The Field Logistics Specialist is an on‑site member of the Logistics Team in a District Sales Office. This person will provide logistical support to the Sales Reps as well as excellent customer service to the hospital staff that will differentiate Smith + Nephew from their competitors.
Responsibilities- Plans, schedules, and prioritizes upcoming surgery procedures needed for the district office, including assigning local pickups and deliveries with respect to time‑sensitivity and distances traveled.
- Ensures that necessary paperwork is processed for shipments.
- Develops and maintains working knowledge of existing products and new product introductions (instruments and implants) to facilitate proper delivery and pickups.
- Proactively identifies errors and omissions in deliveries/pickups to eliminate redundancy in required stops.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with Office Staff, Sales Representatives, and all third‑party end‑users, including Hospital Receiving, Central Processing, and Operating Room Staff.
- Fields customer complaints and communicates them as necessary to OSC staff.
- Dresses in a professional manner as a representative of the company, wearing Smith + Nephew logo‑ed apparel at the discretion of the supervising manager.
- Assists with Office, Sales and OSC duties as required when not directly engaged in courier responsibilities.
- Works with the District OSC staff and Inventory Specialist to analyze and decide the best options for local delivery based on time, cost, and vehicle availability for multiple locations and extremely time‑sensitive shipments.
- Routes shipments via the most appropriate method and confirms updated delivery status.
- Carries a cellular phone at all times to communicate effectively regarding pickups and deliveries; overtime or on‑call duties may be required to accommodate emergency situations and changing surgical schedules.
- Minimum two years of college coursework in operations, customer service, or distribution; alternatively, a combination of education and experience totaling four years is required.
- 4‑year bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Anticipated base compensation range: $22.84 - $34.25 USD hourly.
