The Maintenance Planner - Parts and Inventory
The Maintenance Planner - Parts and Inventory is responsible for supporting the maintenance team by managing the procurement, receipt, organization, and inventory of maintenance parts and supplies. This role ensures parts are available when needed, properly stored, and are accurately tracked to reduce equipment downtime and to increase operational efficiency.
The Maintenance Planner reports to the Maintenance Manager:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Order maintenance parts, tools, and supplies in coordination with technicians and supervisors.
- Receive incoming parts deliveries, inspect for accuracy or quality, and resolve discrepancies.
- Label, organize, and store parts in the designated maintenance inventory system.
- Track usage of high‑turnover items and reorder as needed to maintain stock levels. Evaluate min and max and make adjustments if needed (consult before making changes).
- Schedule kitted parts of materials for work orders and maintenance projects, with maintenance manager approval.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes, place orders, and follow up on delivery timelines so that jobs are kitted. You will work with your manager so projects are ready in time for vendors and technicians.
- Maintain records of purchases, invoices, and part warranties.
- Assist technicians by locating and delivering parts for repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Support audits of maintenance inventory and participate in cycle counting.
- Ensure the parts room and storage areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and SS‑compliant parts room and storage area.
- Enter and close work doors.
- Complete part runs as needed, driving to pick up or drop off items.
- Assist technicians with projects as needed.
- All other duties are assigned.
Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required, associate degree or technical certification preferred.
- 1‑3 years of experience in maintenance, storeroom, or inventory control role.
- Familiarity with maintenance parts (mechanical, electrical, industrial) is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient computer skills and experience with inventory or CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo, Fiix).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office platforms including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse or shop environment.
- Works primarily in a storeroom, shop, or maintenance office environment.
- May be required to walk the production floor or warehouse regularly.
- Overtime or weekend work may be required.
- Exposure to variable temperatures including cold winters and hot summers.
