Job Overview
Q3 Contracting, a division of Primoris Services Corporation, is hiring an experienced Supervisor to lead and oversee multiple drill and Hydrovac crews supporting utility projects for Xcel Energy. This role is field‑based with frequent travel between job sites across the United States and Canada.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Leadership:
Supervise and coordinate multiple HDD and hydrovac crews across active project sites; manage daily scheduling, crew assignments, and resource allocation; ensure projects meet production targets, timelines, and customer expectations. - Safety & Compliance:
Enforce company safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company policies; conduct job site audits, safety meetings, and incident investigations; ensure proper utility locating, potholing, and excavation procedures. - Project Oversight:
Oversee drill planning, bore execution, and hydrovac support activities; coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and Xcel Energy representatives; monitor job progression, identify risks, and implement corrective actions. - Quality Control:
Ensure work meets Xcel standards and specifications; verify bore path accuracy, restoration quality, and documentation; maintain high standards of workmanship across all crews. - Crew Development:
Train, mentor, and evaluate drill and hydrovac operators; build strong team culture focused on safety, accountability, and performance; assist with hiring and onboarding of new crew members.
- 5+ years of experience in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations.
- 2+ years of experience supervising multiple crews.
- Strong knowledge of underground utility construction practices.
- Experience with hydrovac operations and potholing procedures.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
- Ability to travel between job sites.
- Experience working on Xcel Energy projects or similar utility contracts.
- Knowledge of pipeline/gas/electric installation standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency with job tracking, reporting, and basic project management tools.
Field‑based position with frequent travel and exposure to outdoor construction environments. May require extended hours based on workload and project demands.
Compensation and Benefits- $90,000 – $110,000, depending on experience, paid weekly.
