Assistant Director of Clubs and Leadership Programs

Associate Director of Belonging and Student Engagement

Overview

Provide strategic leadership and direct support for registered student organizations and leadership development initiatives. Advise student leaders, develop inclusive leadership programs (including Urban Leadership Program), manage club compliance and risk processes, track and approve club registration, re‑registration, event registration, funding requests, and advance co‑curricular learning aligned with institutional values. Promote belonging, civic engagement, and activated student life through high‑impact involvement experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Student Organization Program Oversight (40%)
    • Primary resource for student organizations: registration, renewal, event, and funding approval.
    • Advise leaders and advisors on event planning, budgeting, recruitment, fundraising, group management, and goal setting.
    • Host training, onboarding, and orientation programming.
    • Manage Campus Event Funding program and ensure equitable impact.
    • Partner with campus event services for registration review, risk management, and advisement.
    • Ensure compliance with policies, fiscal procedures, risk management, and liability practices.
    • Lead weekly activity and funding review meetings.
    • Maintain student organization management platform.
    • Collaborate on monthly newsletter.
    • Review spending, trends, and fiscal management.
    • Audit, update operational expectations and publish relevant standards and guides.
    • Participate in campus‑wide initiatives.
  • Leadership Programming (30%)
    • Set strategic vision for co‑curricular leadership programming.
    • Develop, design, implement, and assess the Urban Leadership Program.
    • Coordinate seminars, service projects, site visits, and guest lectures.
    • Host cohort meetings and mentorship sessions.
    • Conduct annual scholarship requirement reviews.
    • Recruit and maintain a ULP cohort; organize interview day and leadership retreats.
    • Represent the department in institutional and state‑wide committees.
  • Supervision and Operations (15%)
    • Recruit, hire, train, onboard, and evaluate student employees.
    • Approve timesheets and lead staff meetings.
    • Track expenses and file reports.
  • Program Assessment (10%)
    • Compile data and generate reports for semesterly and annual performance.
    • Conduct assessment of student organization leaders and satisfaction surveys.
  • Other Duties (5%)
    • Attend staff meetings, events, trainings, and projects.
    • Participate in professional development activities.
    • Perform additional duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • Required
    :
    Bachelor’s degree; 2–3 years of professional experience supporting student engagement, activities, or leadership programs; process improvement experience; funding and compliance management; leadership program development; supervision of student employees.
  • Preferred
    :
    Master’s degree in a related field; experience in leadership theory, student development theory, civic engagement frameworks; student organization management systems; curriculum design; risk management, marketing, outreach, assessment, policy development, and operational planning.
Work Hours and Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–5:00PM;
Full time;
Hybrid work arrangement;
Evening and weekend work as needed;
Rare travel.

Salary

Range: $47,300–$66,500 (determined by experience, education, and other factors).
