Hybrid Workplace Arrangement

Position Overview

The Transportation Section Manager position is responsible for the management and supervision of the Transportation Section. The position is the Commission’s principal source of expertise regarding all matters concerning the application of state law and Commission rules, relative to the governance of numerous categories of transportation operating within the State of Colorado. The position is responsible for the management of three work units with distinct responsibilities, including Rates & Authorities, Investigations & Compliance, and Transportation Customer Care.

The position develops, formulates, and recommends transportation-related policies and regulatory objectives. The position represents the Commission on committees, task forces, outreach campaigns, training seminars, etc. The position supervises unit managers responsible for safety, economic, and authority oversight of passenger carriers, towing carriers, household goods movers, TNCs, and vehicle immobilization companies.

Responsibilities
  • Providing decision and policy makers with guidance on transportation regulations, as they pertain to real-world situations;
  • Training staff members to be efficient, competent, and successful in the tasks assigned;
  • Evaluating and prioritizing special projects that affect the Transportation Section’s day-to-day business practices and operations;
  • Utilizing all available resources to accomplish the work for the transportation programs and ensuring efficient, consistent, and timely administration/management of the work units;
  • Monitoring and tracking program efficiency regarding inspections and investigations, permitting and licensing, and other regulatory functions related to passenger carriers (e.g., common, contract, limited regulation, LMT), towing carriers, household goods movers, TNCs, and vehicle immobilization companies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Option 1:

    • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible, professional experience working in the public sector performing the following:
      • Operational management and leadership, including ensuring follow-through of existing procedures, managing resource needs, and planning across program areas while ensuring compliance with statutes, rules, and policies; and/or
